WRMA Welcomes Martin Malinow as New Board Member

WASHINGTON - The Weather Risk Management Association (WRMA), the international trade organization of the weather risk management industry, today announced that Martin Malinow of Connecticut-based XL Weather & Energy will serve as a member of the Association's Board of Directors.

WRMA Executive Director Valerie Cooper expressed her enthusiasm for Mr. Malinow's recent appointment. "I'm delighted that Martin has been added to what I consider a first- class Board," said Ms. Cooper. "Martin brings us extensive experience in the weather derivatives market in a variety of capacities and he will be instrumental as WRMA continues to support the industry's growth and success."

Mr. Malinow is Executive Vice President of XL Weather & Energy, responsible for its global weather business. He held previous positions with the company as head of marketing and then head of portfolio management.

Prior to co-founding XL Weather & Energy in 2000, Mr. Malinow was involved in the trading of fixed income derivative products at various investment banks before joining the nascent weather risk management industry in 1998.
